The definition of minimalism in decoration is guided by the premise “less is more”. A project that values functionality and comfort, without giving up a simple and beautiful aesthetic.

This was the style that guided the design of this apartment. 140 m² signed by the office Piacesi Associated Architectsin the Belvedere neighborhood, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.

To fulfill the residents’ wishes, the architect Júnior Piacesi, in charge of the office, brought conviviality and integration as starting points, in which the living room, kitchen and living space come together to create a pleasant, unique environment with the resident’s identity.

“To integrate the environments, it was necessary to break down masonry that segment the spaces. We also demolished a bedroom to increase the kitchen space and fully integrate it with the dining and living room”, reveals the architect.

To make these changes, the big challenge was dealing with the existing structure. This is because the apartment is located in an older building, in which the structural design was very conservative, so it was necessary to be very careful in the interventions, including the inclusion of concrete slabs on the inside, but it was worth every care.

“The use of concrete slabs indoors is what we like the most. It brought an urban touch, very present in the city, into the house”, says Júnior.

The cement slabs were the perfect choice for the minimalist look they wanted so much, and it matches the neutral color palette where black and white predominate.

These choices highlighted every detail of the paintings, adornments and design furniture, to bring more elegance and sophistication to the entire space.

“We brought minimalism as predominant to the entire project. The use of few materials, few decoration items and assertive choice of furniture and lighting are some of the attributes that characterize this style.

The reduction of adornments and the highlighting of details make environments even more functional and cozy”, concludes Júnior.
