For those who identify with the elements that guide the construction of a sustainable architecture project, they will certainly fall in love with Casa GGL, located in the city of São Paulo.
The property, which was conceived for a young couple and built on a narrow and long plot of land, 10m x 30m, was fully planned and designed by Studio AG Arquitetura, in order to take advantage of all the scenic beauty, lighting and available space. The architecture of the residence that has 3 floors and a rooftop (roof) is a reinterpretation of traditional houses that have a structure with a gabled roof. The facade of the property is made of metal profiles coated on the front and back with a high pressure laminated plate that has great durability.
The basement houses the garage and technical area of the house, while the ground floor receives the social area of the house, including the living room, kitchen, dining room and the outdoor leisure area with gourmet space, vertical garden, sauna and elevated pool.
The internal social area houses the kitchen, service area, living and dining room with direct access to the garden. The internal social area, in particular, although it integrates most of the time with the external environment, has doors that run on rails, which brings privacy to the internal environments on event days.
Still in the external area, the elevated swimming pool was implanted in a mandatory setback of 1.50 m on one of the sides of the house. Aligned with the structure of the pool, we can highlight the large vertical garden with foliage that mixes sizes, shapes and textures.
It is worth mentioning that shrimp windows filter the natural light that enters the rooms that face the side, while the master suite overlooks the back garden.
The GGL house has large glass windows that allow the view and contemplation of the external environment.
All the interior design proposed for the property was thought under three spheres: functionality, comfort and beauty. Woody elements and furniture in neutral tones invade the space and bring a feeling of coziness. On the kitchen wall, above the counter, a special highlight: the cellar was created from the concrete of the wall itself (see photo 11).
Nature is also present inside the GGL house through a beautiful winter garden in the living room, further intensifying this cozy and fresh feeling in the environment.
The floating staircase that connects the first floor to the second stands out for its modern design. For those who don’t know, the floating staircase is endowed with that name when the steps are installed individually presenting a support point, which is given to the part fixed to the wall or anchored to a central metallic structure. In this particular project, the steps of the stairs are fixed to the wall, as shown in the image below.
On the second floor of the GGL house houses the intimate area of the house, consisting of three suites and a living room. On this floor it is possible to come across tears in the ceiling that show the influence of natural light in the environments, which in addition to promoting energy savings also facilitate the cultivation of plants inside the property.
Finally, we have the hollow metal staircase that gives access from the second floor to the third and last floor of the property – the rooftop (roof). The skylights above the stairs allow natural light to enter the room.
At the rooftop (roof) a beautiful and cozy solarium was built, where both residents and visitors can enjoy the landscape around the property. In the space you can find several potted plants and giant and colorful puffs with waterproof fabric.
